Goals of the seminar

Due to different ecological, social and economic interests environmental policy is one of the most debated policy fields. In order to balance these interests in favour of sustainable development it is necessary to understand the policy making system of the European Union. There are some powerful instruments such as EU funding and policy consultation which enable environmental NGOs to influence policy making. NGO co-operation and exchange knowledge in favour of common projects and activities is crucial if one wants to make things change.

The seminar brought together small environmental NGOs from the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania and Germany in order to share experiences and to develop common projects. Experienced speakers and trainers gave an insight into EU environmental policy, funding and project management.

Target groups of the seminar were small environmental NGOs which yet do not have established contacts with NGOs from other EU countries and/or wanted to improve their knowledge on developing and implementing international projects successfully.
